Cyanotype Printmaking

Cyanotype Printmaking introduces students to cyanotype photography, a camera-less process that creates striking white and Prussian blue images using UV light and iron salts. Participants will explore the history, science, and creative possibilities of this early photographic process while making prints from natural materials, negatives, and found objects. The standalone intro class offers a one-day overview of the technique and its photographic roots, while the two-week class begins by repeating the intro material, making it accessible to beginners, and then goes deeper into historical and contemporary uses, mixing non-toxic chemistry, exposing, and developing prints. Students may register for the intro class, or attend all three classes.
